On behalf of the Central Planning Committee of the Youth Anti-Corruption Society, in collaboration with the Postgraduate National Union of Rivers State Students (PG-NURSS), Rivers State University chapter, I, Abibo Samson Daniel, led a courtesy visit to the Acting Zonal Director of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) South-South zone, Port Harcourt, Mr. Adebayo Adeniyi.
As the leader of the delegation, I provided the Zonal Director and his team with an overview of our upcoming program, previous record/achievement made at the University of Port Harcourt and seeking their partnership and support to ensure its successful execution. During the meeting, Comrade Sotonye Gillis-Hillary, President of PG-NURSS, further elaborated on the significance of the program. He emphasized how it aims to positively impact 21st-century youth who are increasingly entangled in drug abuse, substance misuse, theft, and cybercrime. He outlined the strategies designed to ensure broad coverage of the event, which are crucial for reaching the target audience and thereby reducing crime, substance abuse, and other harmful behaviors in society.
Comr. Igbiks Ferguson Admonish the Zonal Director and the commission efforts in combating thefts, cybercrime and other menace. He highlighted some critical issues and areas of concern and also appeal for the commission support and presence.
In his response, the Ag. zonal director commended the team for their initiative in launching a campaign against drug abuse, substance misuse, theft, and cybercrime. He highlighted the importance of such advocacy programs in supporting the efforts of anti-graft agencies and government institutions tasked with combating these issues. Mr. Adeniyi assured the Youth Anti-corruption society and Postgraduate National Union of Rivers State Students PGNURSS RSU Chapter of the EFCC’s continued support and partnership in this critical endeavor.
In conclusion, the Central Planning Committee Chairman, Comr. Ejukwu Gospel Dennis , expressed gratitude to the Zonal Director and his team for their warm reception and pledged partnership, looking forward to a fruitful working relationship with the Commission.
