Professor, Francis Erokpaidamwen Osawaru Omoruyi, (Ph.D) obtained the Bachelor of Education degree in Adult Education with bias in Social Welfare and Community Development from the University of Benin, Benin City. He also holds a double Master Degree in Adult Education and Educational Measurement and Evaluation from the same University. He went to the University of Lagos Akoka, where he obtained his Ph.D in 2010 in Adult Education with bias in Community Development Education and Programme Evaluation. He is a two-time University of Benin scholars award winner in 1991 and 1992. He joined the services of the University of Benin in 1995 and rose to the position of a professor in 2014.
He has served the University in several capacities such as Senate representative in the schools of post graduate committee, Senate representative in the ceremonial committee of the university; Member, Academic Programme Planning Committee (APPC) of the University; Head of Department of Adult and Non-formal Education; Member governing council of the institute of education; University of Benin, Member, University Admission Board (UAB); Member, Faculty of education quality control committee; Senate representative University of Benin staff school management board; Congregation representative, University of Benin demonstration secondary school; University of Benin representative in the 7th governing council of the federation, College of education, Akoka Lagos; Director, Centre for Distance Learning of the University of Benin and the immediate past Head of Department of Adult and Non-formal Education among others. He is currently a member of governing council Igbinedion comprehensive school and a member of the Board of Trustee of the Youth Anti-Corruption Society where he holds the position of the Pro-Chairman.
Professor Omoruyi is an external examiner and assessor to several institutions in the country which includes among others, the University of Port-Harcourt, the University of Ibadan, University of Lagos, Tai Solarin University of Education. He has also been involved in National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation panel to some Universities in the country.
He has over eighty (80) articles to his credit published in reputable journals and professional literatures both home and abroad
Professor Omoruyi is a prolific writer whose interest in research is highly contagious. His research areas include statistics, research, programme evaluation, community development and women studies. He is married and blessed with children.
