On the 23rd of February, 2023, the Chief Executive Director of our Society along side the Director of Administration paid a visit to the Secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), HQ, Abuja.

Speaking, our Executive Director Comr. Davidson O. F. Okhuoya commended the the commission for it’s support for democracy and for continuous improvements in it’s effort to provide the nation with free, fair and credible elections. In the meeting, he emphasized on the need the commission to recognize the efforts of youth led bodies and prioritize supports for such organisations be in order for them to contribute better to Nigeria’s election processes.

Nigeria’s youths make up a large portion of Nigeria’s population. They are also the largest number of voters in every election. He added that it is time that they are given opportunities to better election process starting from the inclusion of indigenous youths in election observation processes.
“We need to not only vote but should be able to tell our people that: Look, i was there. There was no vote trading and the process was very transparent”.

In response, the secretary appreciated the organization and commend the efforts of Comr. Davidson in driving the affairs of YASNigeria. She also acknowledge the capacity of youth led teams and the indispensable roles of youths in elections.

In conclusion, the assured the organization of continuous support from the INEC and charged the society to stay focus in it’s pursuit for transparency, accountability and credibility in election processesÂ
